ICS Basics

Cards (1)

    • Prior to each cardiac contraction the heart has to generate an action potentials (APs), which spread across the whole of the myocardium in a highly organised and synchronised manner
    • In health the action potential is always produced by the prime pacemaker region – the sinoatrial node, and spreads across the myocardium using a specialised conducting system known as the Intrinsic Conducting System (ICS)
