  • Health Consumer
    • someone who examines health information
    • someone who purchases and utilizes the goods and services
    • aims to develop a person's ability to evaluate and use health information, products, and services wisely and effectively.
  • Health Information
    • any concept, step, or advice that various sources give to aid an individual's health status.
    • The type of information varies depending on "diseases, sexual health, weight loss/gain, drugs and alcohol, depression/mental assault."
    • everything that people see, read, or heard related to human and community health. It could be in the form of media, electronics, and even digital media.
    • Every consumer should be wise in buying products to carefully evaluate health pieces of information or be a victim of fake or substandard health products.
  • Health Products
    • food, drugs, cosmetics, devices, biologicals, vaccines, in-vitro diagnostic reagents, household/urban hazardous substances, and a combination of and a derivative thereof(FDA Act., 2009).
    • may be purchased from various places like supermarkets, pharmacies, and hospitals.
  • OVER THE COUNTER (OTC DRUGS) - varying from mouthwashes to pain relievers. Even some of the most beneficial OTC drugs can be unsafe.
  • HAIR CARE PRODUCTS
    • Tweezers used to pluck unwanted hair may present some danger of infection when adjacent skin is not clean.
    • Chemical products are usually safe, but skin reactions, irritations, and infections are always possible.
  • ORAL CARE PRODUCTS
    • include kinds of toothpaste, mouthwashes, and gargles. Water supply containing fluoride also helps prevent dental activities.
  • Health Services
    These programs aim to appraise individuals' health conditions through screening and examinations, cure and treat disorders, prevent and control the spread of diseases, provide safety, emergency care, and first aid, and ensure a follow-up program for individuals who have undergone treatments.
  • In evaluating health services, the consumers' preferences may be measured about these five attributes, namely:
    1. location of service points; effectiveness of doctors, clinics, and hospitals;
    2. promptness and kindness when caring for patients and family members;
    3. ease of access to the authorization form for consultations;
    4. price; and
    5. diversity of available doctors, clinics, and hospitals.
