  • COMMUNICATION​ - plays a pivotal role in human development.
  • COMMUNICATION - -Humans have always communicated with one another even before traditional media were developed.​(through gestures)

  • Sender - The one who decides on the information/message to transmit.​
  • Message​ - message or information that sender wants to say/send to the receiver.
  • Channel - instrument used in delivering the message.​
  • Receiver - person or group of persons to whom the information is transmitted​
  • Effect - response of the receiver to the information transmitted.​
  • MIL recognizes the primary role of information and media in people’s everyday lives. The term is a product of two previously separate fields.​
  • MEDIA - means of communication, as radio and ​television, newspaper and magazines, ​that reach for people widely​
  • MASS MEDIA - A type of media used to reach a large scale of audience.​ ( the public)
  • INFORMATION - It is a broad term that is derived form study experiences, or instructions.​
  • INFORMATION- It can refer to any facts or details about a subject that depict meanings to a person.​
  • Functions of media​
    A source of credible information​
    Are vehicles that carry messages​
    Serves as channels which people use to send/receive information.​
  • MEDIA LITERACY - a set of perspectives that people use actively to expose themselves to mass media and interpret the meaning of the messages they encounter.​ (William james potter​; Canadian Communication Educator, 2004​)
  • MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY -
    consists of the knowledge, the attitudes, and the sum of the skills needed to know when and what information is needed; where and how to obtain that information; how to evaluate it critically and organize it once it is found; and how to use it in an ethical way​
  • MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY - is a basic human right in an increasingly digital, interdependent, and global world, and promotes greater social inclusion​

  • MEDIA LITERACY - The ability to identify different types of media and understand the messages they're sending.​
  • INFORMATION LITERACY - Set of abilities which require individuals to recognize when information is needed and locate, evaluate, and use it effectively.​
  • TECHNOLOGY LITERACY - The COLORADO Department of Education (2009)​ defines it as the ability to responsibly use appropriate technology to improve learning in all subject areas.
