Cards (3)

  •  Menstrual cycle is the series of monthly changes that take place in the female reproductive system as it prepares for the possibility of pregnancy. It starts from the first day of menstruation period until the last day of the next menstrual cycle. Regulating the processes during the menstrual cycle is through feedback mechanism which involves the coordination among the nervous system, endocrine system and reproductive system.
  • The female reproductive undergoes a cycle every month from the first onset which could happen when a female is between 8 to 16 years old. The monthly cycle continues for about 40 years. The different events that take place in the cycle are divided into 4 phases:  (1) Menstruation, (2)Follicular phase, (3) Ovulation and (4) Luteal Phase. Important changes happen in the uterus, ovary, level of hormones from the pituitary gland and even body temperature.
  • Hormones control many changes in the female reproductive system including the release of egg cell (ovulation) and menstruation that normally happen once a month.
