  This punishes through unpaid work and try to help people stay out of trouble

  • For less severe offences, most common type of sentence
  • Is set by court after considering the seriousness of the offence and how much money the offender has
• Ancillary orders


  These impose upon the person conditions relating to their behaviour. For example drink banning order, restraining order
• Discharge

  • For least serious offences for which the experience of being taken to court is thought to be punishment enough
  • Comes with conditions that mean the offender must stay out of trouble
