• Prokaryotic cells:

  -> 1-10μm

  -> no nucleus

  -> circular DNA

  -> cell membrane/wall/capsule/mesosome/cilia/flagella

  -> Ribosomes

  -> Usually single organisms

  -> Bacteria
• Eukaryotic cells:

  -> 10-100μm

  -> nucleus with membrane

  -> DNA is coiled round histone proteins

  -> Has a cell membrane

  -> They are membrane-bound organelles

  -> Single cells, colonies, multi-cellular organisms with specialized cells

  -> like protocista, fungi, plants and animals.
• Both:

  Both Eukaryotic cells and Prokaryotic cells have a cell membrane that carries out the same function although specific to that cell. Both contain ribosomes that carry out protein synthesis.
