• Vector quantities have a magnitude and a direction. They include:

  • Velocity
  • Acceleration
  • Force
• Scalar quantities have a magnitude and no specified direction. They include:

  • Mass
  • Temperature
  • Distance
  • Time
  • Energy
  • Speed
• A force is a push or pull that acts on an object
• Contact forces are physically touching an object. examples include:

  • Friction
  • Air resistance
  • Tension
• Non-contact forces are physically separated from an object. examples include:

  • Gravitational force
  • Electrostatic force
  • Magnetic force
• Weight is the force acting on an object due to gravity
• The resultant force is the force that has the same effect as all of the forces acting on an object
