  • to accomodate large populations , cities might expand into rural areas -> farmlands , forests , hills
  • may cause unhappiness within residents who will need fo consequently relocate
• Water

  • cities needs to meet the clean water supply needs of people -> with competition for land , limits construction of resevoirs
  • water catchment areas & ground water are also affected due to the urbanisation of cities
