Bowlby found out of the 44 criminals 14 could be described as affectionless psychopaths and 12 of those experienced prolonged separation in their first 2 years, only 5 of the remaining 30 experienced long separation
From this he concluded prolonged separation/ deprivation caused affectionless psychopathy.
