Involves the mRNA being read within ribosomes to form a polypeptide chain of amino acids
The process occurs in the cytoplasm
mRNA binds to a ribosomes
Ribosome begins at a start sequence and moves along the mRNA reading each codon signalling tRNA carrying a specific amino acid
tRNAanticodons recognise and bind to the codon on the mRNA using complementary base pairing allowing the amino acid to join the growing polypeptide chain by peptide bonds
When a stop sequence is reached, the ribosome releases the mRNA and polypeptide chain
