• • The daughter gets the x chromosome from her mother and the father son gets x from her mother and y from the father

  • Male with traits passes it on to all his daughters and none of his sons
  • Females with this trait may pass it on to both daughters and sons
  • The trait is observed in each generation

  • Affects more males than females
  • An affected male will not pass the trait on to his sons
  • Female will pass on the traits to their sons
  • A female can be a carrier and doesn’t show the condition
  • A trait may not appear in one generation but reappear in later generations
