Conduction

Cards (7)

  • Conduction is when heat transfers from one material to another by direct contact. For solids, heat is transferred through CONDUCTION.
  • Conductors are when heat passes easily. Examples are metals and diamonds.
  • Insulators don't absorb heat. Examples are wood, plastic, paper, and air.
  • touching a hot stove is an example of heat CONDUCTION.  Heat flows from a region of HIGH temperature to a region of LOW temperature.
  • Air, being a gaseous substance, acts as an insulator, as it is a poor heat conductor.
  • Conduction happens in water molecules when it is heated.
  • Cooking utensils should be made out of a material that doesn't conduct heat well.
