  • -Knowledge of God can be reached in two different ways
    1. through revelation- where God chooses to reveal the truth to people
    2. Through out own human reason (which Aquinas believed was given to us for this very purpose)
  • believed that if we applied reason to the evidence around us we can reach valuable truths
  • Convinced the existence of God is not self-evident
  • Nothing inanimate is purposeful without the guiding hand
  • No non-living thing can have its own purpose, it has to be given to it ad guided
  • What is the arrow analogy?
    if you saw an arrow flying towards a target in the woods, we would know that someone must have aimed and fired the arrow.
    In the same way we should look at the world around us and assume the guiding hand
