Fluids

Subdecks (3)

Cards (32)

  • A fluid is any substance that can flow and can take the shape of its container
  • Solid:
    • Particles are tightly packed
    • Particles do NOT move they vibrate
    • Solids keep their shape
  • Liquid:
    • Particles are close together
    • Particles can flow and move past each other
    • A liquid assumes the shape of a container
  • Gas:
    • Particles are spaced out with no pattern
    • Particles move freely and are high energy
    • A gas assumes the shape of a container
  • Particle Theory of Matter:
01: All matter is made up of particles
02: All particles in a pure substance are identical (no two different pure substances have the same particles)
03: All particles have space between them
04: All particles are always moving – more energy (heat) produces more movement
05: All particles are attracted to one another
