  • What is the test for chlorine?
    Chlorine bleaches damp litmus paper, turning it white.
  • What is the test for oxygen?
    Place a glowing splint inside a test tube containing the gas. If oxygen is present it will relight the glowing splint.
  • What is the test for hydrogen?
    Hold a lit splint at the open end of a test tube containing hydrogen and a 'squeaky pop' will be heard.
  • What is the test for carbon dioxide?
    Make limewater and bubble the gas through it, the solution will turn cloudy if there is carbon dioxide present in the gas.
