A Bunsen burner is a tool used in science to heat things up, acting like a mini stove for the lab
Adjusting the collar can change the flame from a cooler, yellow flame to a hotter, blue flame
Gas hose is to carry the gas from the gas tap
Base – keeps the Bunsen burner steady on the bench
Airhole – lets air (oxygen) into the Bunsen burner
Collar – open or close to change between a yellow flame (safety) and a blue flame
Barrel – where the air mixes with the gas
For using Bunsun Burner you'll need to tie your hair, use saftey glasses and apron
The collar can be used to control the size of the flame by opening it up more or less.
A small flame will have a low temperature while a large flame has a high temperature.
When lighting a Bunsen burner, turn the tap fully clockwise until no gas comes out then light the match and hold it under the barrel while turning the tap anti-clockwise.
Always make sure that the collar is turned down when not in use.
When the collar is fully closed, there is no oxygen entering the barrel so the flame is very weak and orange/red in colour.
