• Dr James Naismith invented basketball in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
• Basketball was introduced to the Berlin Olympics in 1936.
• The National Basketball League was formed in 1937
• The Basketball Association of America was formed in 1946
• The Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball League merged to form the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1949.
• The Basketball Hall of Fame was founded in 1959
• Players score points after exciting a basket shot
• The highest number of points that can be scored with one basket shot is 3. A 3 point shot is made when a basket shot is executed from outside the 3- point line.

  
• Any basket shot from inside the 3 point line, that is not a free throw is worth 2 points.

  
• How to play?

  there are 2 teams with 5 players. Points are scored when one gets the ball into the other team basket. The team with the most points wins the game
• A free throw from the free throw line scores 1 point. Free throws are given when a technical foul is called.
• The game is divided into 4 quarters each 10 minutes long
• There are 5 playing positions:

  • Point Guard
  • Shooting Guard
  • Small forward
  • Centre
  • Power forward
