  • ACA = medial and superior frontal lobe and anterior parietal.
  • ACA Stroke = contralateral paralysis and sensory loss of lower limb with urinary incontinence
  • MCA = lateral cerebral hemisphere and temporal lobe
  • MCA Stroke = contralateral paralysis and sensory loss of upper limb and face
    Dominant hemisphere = aphasia
    Non-dom = hemineglect
    Homonymous hemianopia
  • Lacunar = striatum and internal capsule
  • Lacunar stroke = Contralateral paralysis OR sensory loss
  • PCA =occipital, i.m temporal, midbrain, thalamus and choroid plexus
  • PCA Stroke = contralateral hemianopia with macular sparing
    Dominant = Alexia no agraphia
    Non-dom = agnosia (face blind)
  • Basilar = Brainstem
  • Basilar Stroke = locked in
  • AICA Stroke = CN7 palsy = facial paralysis, decreased lacrimation, salivation and taste on anterior 2/3 tongue
    Vomiting, SNHL, nystagmus and ipsilateral horners
  • PICA Stroke = Wallenberg
    Nucleus ambiguous palsy= dysphagia, hoarseness, decreased gag reflex and hiccups
  • Webers = PCA branch = medial midbrain
  • Webers Stroke = CN3 palsy and contralateral hemiparesis
  • Total anterior circulation infarct =
    1. Contralateral paralysis
    2. Contralateral homonymous hemianopia
    3. Higher cerebellar dysfunction
    = middle and anterior cerebral infarct
  • Partial anterior circulation infarct =
    2 of TACI
    Or high cerebral dysfunction alone
    Means anterior or middle cerebral artery infarct
