Following Albanian riots across Macedonia in 1912 Bulgaria declared war on the Ottoman Empire on 7th September, without consulting its allies
Montenegro declared war on Turkey on the 8th October
Serbia and Greece did so on the 18th October 1912.
Bulgaria rushed to Macedonia to seize the area before the Greeks could do so
The Balkan League forced the Ottoman Empire back to Constantinople following a series of brilliant victories
▪ However, following warnings from Russia about possible consequences they didn’t follow their victory by moving on to the Turkish Capital
Many German politicians and military staff could see the danger of being dragged into further trouble in the Balkans. The Kaiser said at the start of the FBW "I will keep out of it".
