  • Extraneous variables are variables that you are not investigating that could affect the dependant variable.
    Confounding variables are a type of extraneous variables that not only affect the dependant variable but also change along with the Independent variable.
  • Demand characteristics are any cues from the researcher or research situation that reveal the aims of the study, causing the participant to act unnaturally.
  • Investigator effects is when the researchers behaviour influences the outcome of the study.
  • Randomisation is the use of chance when designing investigation to control the effects of bias.
  • Standardisation is using the same procedure for all participants in a research study.
