  • Haiku is a short poem usually about nature, consisting of 3 lines with a syllable pattern of 5-7-5
  • Example of a Haiku:
    The leaves are falling.
    All the trees still.
    Autumn has now come
  • Poetry characteristics:
    • May rhyme
    • May have stanzas (verses) and lines
  • Limerick is a type of poem that is funny or nonsensical, with a rhyme scheme of AABBA
  • Limericks must have two groups of rhymes: A & B
  • Example of a Limerick:
    Her name meant pretty
    Sometimes she could be a little petty
    She is very smart
    Her mind was as sharp as the tip of a dart
    I hope she will forever be happy
