Equations

• Equations to memorize for Geometry and Shapes:

  • Rectangle / Parallelogram area = length x width
  • Square area = width²
  • Triangle area = base x height/2
  • Trapezium area = ((upper + lower bases) / 2) x height
  • Circumference of a circle = π x diameter = π x 2 x radius
  • Area of a circle = π x radius ²
• Volume of Shapes:

  • Cuboid volume = length x width x height = base area x height
  • Prism volume = area of cross section x length
  • Cylinder volume = π x radius² x height
  • Pyramid volume = 1/3 x area of base x height
• Trigonometry:

  • Pythagoras' theorem: a² + b² = c²
  • Sine Rule: sin(A)/a = sin(B)/b = sin(C)/c
  • Cosine Rule: a² = b² + c² - 2bc cos(A)
• Algebra:

  • (a+b)² = a²+2ab+b²
  • (a-b)² = a²-2ab+b²
  • a²−b² = (a-b)(a+b)
  • (a+b)³ = a³+b³+3ab(a+b)
  • (a-b)³ = a³-b³−3ab(a-b)
  • a³−b³ = (a+b)(a²−ab+b²)
  • a³−b³ = (a-b)(a²+ab+b²)
