how did the first world war weaken the rule of the kaiser

  • (Causes:) Fighting had lasted for four years from 1914 to 1918 without germany being able to defeat their allies (Consequences:) german people had lost trust in the german leadership as they had been led to believe they would win the war
  • (Causes:) 11 million germans fought in the war almost 2 million troops died in the war and 4 million injured (consequences:) this weakened the german army and the army withdrawed their support for the kaiser
  • (Causes:) in many towns the workers and soldiers set up their own, unofficial councils to replace the kaisers officials eg in hamburg and munich (consequences:) this showed that people wanted political change and this became known as the german revolution
