Variation, adaption and evolution

Cards (3)

  • What is darwins theory of evolution?
    -random mutations result in variation
-some organisms are better adapted to environment
-These compete (survival of the fittest)
-Those better adapted are more likely to survive; over time those desirable features become more pronounced.
  • how is Antibiotic-resistant bacteria used as evidence for Darwinian evolution?
If not all bacteria are killed, those more resistant will reproduce, this is why a full course of antibiotics must be completed.
  • Selective breeding?
Breeding organisms that have desired characteristics to produce offsprings in which they are more pronounced .
