  • Shock: is when there is not enough blood circulating around your body
    • May feel a rapid pulse, shallow breaths
    • The person may feel dizzy, thirsty, and need to vomit
    • Feeling anxious or panicky
  • Hypothermia (freezing)
    Hypothermia means your core body temperature has fallen below approx. 35 degrees C. Your body is too cold to work properly. 
    • You may begin to act strangely 
    • Your skin is cold and pale, and breathing is shallow and rapid
    • You may feel weak, stumble a lot
    • May become unconscious
  • Heat exhaustion vs heat stroke
    Heat Exhaustion is when your body loses too much water and salts via sweating
    • Skin may be pale and clammy
    • Pulse is weak and rapid
    • May feel dizzy, get cramps and headache
    Heat Stroke is when your body suddenly loses its ability to sweat and your temperature rises out of control. 
    • Suddenly lapses into confusion
    • Feel flushes, with rapid pulse and hot, dry skin
    • May become unconscious
  • Heat exhaustion vs heat stroke- what to do
    Heat Exhaustion:
    • Lie the person down in a cool place, with legs raised
    • Give them frequent sips of water with a weak solution of salt added
    • Call doctor and seek further treatment
    Heat Stroke:
    • Lie the person down in a cool, breezy place. Remove outer clothing and wrap person in a cold, wet sheet
    • Continue with cold water and fan it as much as possible
