  • Kinsey et al - LW Community Policing

Community policing = neighbourhoods have officers who regularly patrol the same area and so form strong relationships with the people, improving confidence in the police.
    • Due to their often heavy-handed approach, local communities refuse to give police information. This leads to 'military policing' which involves stop and searches or using surveillance to find suspects.
    • Minimal policing should be used to improve relationships with the community.
  • Criticisms of LW Community Policing
Right Realists criticise these solutions as minimal policing will allow crime rates to increase and people to feel unsafe in their own communities. The law abiding members of public respects the police.
