What happened step one
on the 18/07/31 there was an explosion on the south of the Manchurian railway. The Japanese army claimed it was attacked by the Chinese soldier's
What happened - step two
The Chinese denied this as they said all their soldiers' had been asleep at the time
What happened - step three
The Kwantung army used the events as an excuse to take over Manchuria
What happened - step four
The people of Japan were delighted with this victory and celebrated in the streets
The government was not happy but they had no choice but to go along with the Invasion
What happened - step five
in 1932 they renamed Manchuria to Manchukuo and put Pu Yi an ex-Chinese emperor in charge as a puppet ruler.
What did a puppet ruler mean
Meant that Japan could control him and the country secretly
