Reasons for crime

• Religious believers think crime is hardly ever justified

  • no matter the reasons
• Poverty:

  • Millions of people can't always afford to buy food
  • Christians think society should ensure that no one should have to steal food
  • Muslims use Zakah to help those in need but it can't help everyone so communities must get involved
• Upbringing:

  • Some grow up in a home where crime is normal
  • Christians think parents should teach their children the right way through words and actions
  • Muslims think that extended family are there to ensure the law is kept
• Mental Illness:

  • Some mental illnesses can lead to a life of crime
  • Christians believe that treating the cause of the mental illness is the most loving thing a person can do
  • Muslims think that while mental illnesses should be treated, punishment is still justified
• Addiction:

  • Christians are against taking drugs and believe in rehabilitation
  • In Islam illegal drugs and alcohol are not allowed so is no reason for criminal behaviour
• Greed:

  • The Ten commandments fobid envy which can cause greed
  • "You shall not covet... anything that belongs to your neighbour"
  • Muslims believe greed is a temptation that should be avoided
  • "Competing for more distracts you until you go to your grave."
• Hate:

  • Jesus taught to love everybody, even enemies
  • Hatred is against Muslim morality
