  • Symptoms: nausea, fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, and stomach cramps
  • Salmonella:
    • Untreated, eggs and pasteurised, milk, raw poultry
    • 6 to 72 hours for symptoms
    • Wash hands ,wash the fruits, cook meat thoroughly
  • campylobacter:
    • Uncooked poultry, untreated water, shellfish, mushroom
    • 2 to 5 days for symptoms
    • Thoroughly cooking poultry, washing, pre-packaged salads
  • E. coli, 157:
    • Raw, undercooked, poultry, raw seafood, unwashed veg
    • 1 to 3 days for symptoms
    • Wash hands after touching animals, prevent cross contamination
  • Staphylococcus aureus:
    • Hand made ready to eat food, unpasteurised milk
    • 1 to 6 hours for symptoms
    • Personal hygiene, covering cuts, washing hands
  • listeria:
    • Shellfish, softer cheeses, unwashed vegetables
    • Avoid cross contamination, reheat food properly, store meat correctly
