  • Paired preference test:
    • A taster gets too similar foods to sample
    • Taster indicates which one they prefer
  • Hedonic rating test:
    • Tasters, try various different foods
    • Taste is rate the foods on a scale
  • Triangle test:
    • Tasers, try three foods
    • One is slightly different
    • Taster select the one they think is different
  • A not a test:
    • Tasters try a sample then two more
    • From the two samples, they pick the one that’s the same as the first
  • Triangle tests are considered slightly more reliable because you are less likely to guess the right answer
  • Ranking test:
    • After tasting food, they are ranked from lowest to highest based on a characteristic
  • rating test:
    After tasting food, they are rated on a scale
  • Profiling:
    • After food has been scaled, a food profile, for the average score is created
