Alleles

• Allele: version of gene
• Offspring gets one allele from each parent
• Genotype: the genetic makeup of an organism, including the alleles it carries
• Phenotype: physical characteristic – resulting from interaction with genotype and outside environment 
• Blood type: protein on surface of red blood cell – O has no A or B proteins
• Plus: Rh factor (protein) on surface of blood cells
• Homozygous: 2 identical alleles, e.g BB, bb
