  • December 1925 - Locarno Pact (Italy)
    • between Germany, GB, France, Belgium, and Italy
    • borders were agreed - Rhine land would be permanently de-militarized
    • Germany's place in the League of Nations was discussed
    • successful as Germany could discuss what it wanted unlike the ToV - wasn't imposed on Germany
    • Germany was now being treated like an equal
  • September 1926 - Germany was offered a place in the League of Nations
    • Germany no longer seen as the 'bad guy'
    • Germany now able to take part in discussions
  • August 1928 - Germany and 61 countries signed the Kellogg-Briand Pact
    • countries would not use war in their foreign policy
    • unlike ToV it shows that Germany was included amongst the main powers and not dictated by them
  • However there were some downsides to the recovery of foreign relations
    1. extreme political parties were furious that the Treaty of Versailles still existed
    2. some felt the League of Nations was a symbol of the Treaty of Versailles
    3. the Kellogg-Briand Pact didn't get rid of the Treaty of Versailles
