• 1978- The JVC Company in Japan launched its video players (video images first captured in 1951 in US)
• 1982- Sony launches first digital audio CDs
• 1985- Microsoft windows version 1.0
• 1985- 1st cellular mobile phone call made in the UK
• 1991- Kodak releases first true digital camera (1.3 megapixels) Although earlier experiments made by Sony in 1981
• 1995- DVD drives invented and start to replace video tapes
• 1996- First 56K modem allowed home computers a dial-up connection to internet
• 1999- Wi-Fi invented allowing wireless connections to the Internet but use doesn’t take off until 2007
• 2001- IPod portable media player invented by Apple
• 2006- Sony invents Blu-ray Discs with double picture resolution than DVDs
• 2007- Apple launched the smartphone revolution with its iPhone followed in 2008 by first Android phone
• 2010- Tablet computers take off with the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab (first Android tablet)
• 2019- 5th Generation mobile phone network (5G) launched allowing mobile phones much faster Internet connections
