  • Contemporary arts refer to art of the present day, where artists are alive and still making work, including painting, sculpture, and architecture
  • Integrative arts combine artistic and technological elements, such as cartoons
  • Visual arts express artistic ideas through images, structure, and tactile work
  • Literary arts express ideas through writing, including poetry, prose, and drama
  • Performing arts express artistic ideas through written lyrics, text, dramatization, and multimedia production
  • Elements of arts include space, line, shape and form, color, value, and texture
  • Principles of arts include scale and proportion, harmony, variety, movement, rhythm, balance, emphasis and subordination
  • Classification of various art forms:
    • Auditory (Singing)
    • Kinesthetic (Dance)
    • Dramatics (Act)
  • In auditory arts:
    • Rhythm is a repeated pattern of movement or sounds
    • Pitch refers to the highness and lowness of sound
    • Melody is the catchy or memorable part of music
    • Musical notation is a rhythmic succession of single tones organized as an aesthetic whole
    • Harmony is the combination of simultaneous musical notes in a chord
    • Timbre describes the quality of sound
  • In kinesthetic arts:
    • The human body is the center of the performance activity
    • Arrangement or pattern involves movements and steps for organized performance
    • Time and space must complement each other for the performance
  • Geometric Shape - are closed figures such as triangles, squares, and other structured figures •
  • Organic Shape - shapes which are found in nature
  • Abstract Shape - shape refers to a randomly made and unstructured shape
  • Scale - refers to the sizes of an object in arts
  • Proportion - refers to the point of view of an artist when it comes to art
