  • GENDER STEREOTYPE
    • A preconceived idea and beliefs about features or characteristics that should be possessed by men, women, and LGBT+ group. This may be in a form of positive or negative stereotypes.

    • These stereotypes are often deeply ingrained in cultural, social, and historical contexts, shaping expectations about how men and women should behave, express themselves, and fulfill certain roles in society.

    • It refers to the act of treating someone primarily as an object of sexual desire, rather than as an individual with their own thoughts, feelings, and autonomy.
  • REDUCING A PERSON TO BODY PARTS
    • Focus is primarily on specific body parts or physical attributes.
  • TREATING AS AN OBJECT FOR PLEASURE
    • The individual is seen as an object existing for the sexual gratification of others

  • SEXISM
    • It is a form of discrimination or bias based on a person's gender, typically favoring one gender over the other. It is a prejudicial behavior wherein you treat individuals differently because of their gender.
  • INSTITUTIONAL SEXISM
    • Manipulation and toleration of an institution that prohibits equality, reinforce stereotypes, and limit opportunities for individuals based on their gender.
  • MISOGYNY
    • It refers to the hatred, dislike, or prejudice against women or girls. This includes negative stereotypes, discriminatory practices, and harmful beliefs that contribute to the unequal treatment of women in society.
  • EXAMPLES:
    • Derogatory Languages
    • This can include sexist jokes, slurs, or demeaning comments intended to belittle or objectify women.
    • Gender-based Violence
    • Any form of violence directed specifically at women because of their gender, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, or harassment.
  • HOMOPHOBIA
    • It is a fear, extreme hatred, or prejudice against individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT+). It often arises from lack of understanding, and it can contribute to the marginalization and mistreatment of LGBT+ individuals.
