  • BAPTISM - the sacrament that brings about rebirth and initiates us into the Church, the Body of Christ.

  • INFANT BAPTISM
    • born with a fallen human nature and tainted by original sin, infants, too, need to be baptized to be freed from the power of darkness
    • Having the child baptized as an infant is a sign of the love of the parent for the child.

  • Water - Represents cleansing. It also symbolizes death to an old life of sin and rebirth into a new life with Christ Jesus.

  • White Garment - The white garment that is placed upon us at baptism is a symbol of Christ’s victory over death and his glorious resurrection. The newly baptized are dressed in a white garment after baptism to symbolize that they are washed clean of sin.
  • The Baptismal Candle - A small candle is lit from the Easter candle and given to the newly baptized as a reminder to them always to walk as children of the Light and to be the light of Christ to the world.

  • CONDITIONS FOR A VALID MARRIAGE
    • The spouses are free to marry.
    • They freely exchange their consent.
    • They have the intention to marry for life, to be faithful to one another and be open to children.
    • The consent of the couple is given in the presence of two witnesses and before a properly authorized Church minister.
