    • To be effective must be noticed persuasive and remembered
    • Examples in aus include: quit program, slip slop slap seek slide, jump rope for heart
    • Governments introduce legislation to minimise risk factors in the population. Educational programs and public health campaigns sometimes not enough to change behavior of population as main risk factors are addictive in nature
    • Emphasis is on preventing the disease in the hope that members of population will change their behaviour to reduce their exposure to the risk factors
    • Includes: ban on advertising or promotion, ban in public places, increase tax, enforce clear labelling on food
