Biodiversity
a variety of different
species
of
organisms
on
earth
or in an
ecosystem
Humans decreased biodiversity by:
habitat destruction
pollution
waste
results - less food, less shelter so plants and animals become extinct
Measures put in place to conserve biodiversity
protecting a regenerating
habitats
- E.g. eg national
park status
governments are trying to reduce
carbon footprints
massive drive of
recycling
captive
breading
programs for
endangered
species tto later be released into the
wild
Eutrophication
a
pond
containing
fish
and
plants
aquatic
plants use the
sun
to
photosynthesis
and produce
oxygen
which is
dissolved
into the
water
and used by the fishes to
survive
fertilisers
(that encourage the
growth
of plants) put in land are put into the
water
when it
rains
this causes
Algea
to colonise the
surface
of the
pond
this prevents plants below to
photosynthesise
as they cannot access
sun light
plants
die
and no longer
release
oxygen
fish now do not have the
oxygen
they need and also
die
