• Condor legion

  air force troops form the Nazi Germany army that supported the Nationalist side during the Spanish civil war.
• International Brigades

  foreign volunteers form international countries who fought on the Republican side during the war
• CEDA

  Confederación Española de derechas autónomas. It was the main right-wing political party between 1933 and 1937. It was formed by carlists, falangists, anarchists and monarchists and mainly characterised by conservatism.
• FET y de las JONS

  Falange Española tradicionalista y de las Juntas de ofensiva nacional sindicalista. It was the only legal Francoist political party in Spain between 1937 and 1977. It followed the Carlist movement
• Sección femenina


  Promoted the ideal woman as femenine, delicate and devoted to the house and the children. It was crucial for women indoctrinatio during the war.
• Desamortizaciones


  expropiation of land from the church and ohter institutions by the state to be sold to private owners. The aim of this was to end with the state debt and promote private property. There were two desamortizationes in Spain: one by Mendizabal in 1836 and another one in 1855 by Madoz
• Fueros


  privileges and rights given to certains people. They could be applied to military, political, religous or profesional contexts. Their aimm is to protect independence, impartiality or security of other instituions and individuals.
• Paseos

  nationalist way of executing suspicious republican supporters by taking them to a walk and shooting them in large numbers in towns and then burry them all together in the cunetas
• Sacas


  Republican way of executing suspicious nationalist supporters by imprisioning them and executing them in large numbers.
• Checas

  unoficial prisons established by left-wing revolutionary groups during the spanish civil war.
