Confidence To appear confident, including by making eye contact when you're addressing someone, sitting up straight with your shoulders open and preparing ahead of time so your thoughts are clear and you're able to answer any questions

Communication is a process whereby people create and transmit meaning through the exchange of verbal and nonverbal messages in a particular context (Oetzel, 2009)
Made up of four key components: encoding, medium of transmission, decoding, feedback
SENDER Source of idea, encodes the message
RECEIVER Decodes the message
MESSAGE The information the sender is relaying to the receiver
COMMUNICATION CHANNEL Method used to transmit a message
FEEDBACK When applicable, a response sends back to the receiver
ENCODING Production of the message; conversion of thoughts to communication
DECODING Extraction of meaning from the message; conversion of communication to thoughts
SENDER Has the ability to use the language that the receiver understands
A Sender must have good delivery skills such as good voice, eye contact, choice of words, sentence construction, proper intonation, etc.
