    share prices began to fall on Wall Street stock exchange, America - German banks were big investors in shares of the US stock exchange and suffered huge losses - the banks lost so much money German people began to fear that they wouldn't have access to their money in their bank account - people queued outside banks to take their money out - some banks ran out of money - people lost their saving
  • the collapse of the German bank caused a collapse in industry as German and US banks demanded the return of money they had leant to businesses - German businesses and farms cut down on productions, some permanently closed down - workers = unemployed - unemployed German workers stopped buying and the economy collapsed
  • 1929 - 1932
    industrial output fell by 40%
    unemployment rose from 1.3 million 1929 to 6.1 million in 1933
