  Observations without a participants knowledge. They cannot see the researcher.

  Demand characteristics are unlikely as they cannot see the researcher. This is a strength as it means that participants behaviour will be genuine.
• What is a weakness of a covert observation?

  Participants are not aware that they are being observed. This is a weakness as they cannot give their full consent, making the study less ethical.
