  • Scheduled Services
    Those that operate to a clearly defined, published timetable, irrespective of whether a flight is full or not. The Airline utilized this type of service.
  • Charter Services
    Do not operate according to published timetables. Instead, the aircraft is chartered to intermediaries (often tour operators) for a fixed charge and those intermediaries become responsible for selling the aircraft seats.
  • Air Taxi Services
    Privately charter aircraft that can accommodate 4 to 18 people, mostly used by business travelers. They offer advantages of convenience and flexibility as routings can be tailor-made for passengers.
  • Airline

    A company that provides air transport services for traveling passengers and freight. Airlines utilize airplanes to supply these services.
  • 2 Types of Commercial Airlines:
    1. Premium Airlines
    2. Low-Cost Carriers (LCC)
  • Premium Airlines are also known as “ Full Service ” or “ Legacy ”. They usually provide a higher quality of service such as:
    • First-class and business class
    • Frequent-flyer program
    • Airport lounges
    • Have better cabin services, such as meal service and in-flight entertainment
  • Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) also known as a no-frills, discount, or budget airline is an airline that offers generally low fares by eliminating many traditional passenger services.
    • Point-to-point operations.
    • Serving short-haul routes
    • A strong focus on price-sensitive traffic, mostly leisure passengers.
    • Typically one service class only with no (or limited) customer loyalty/frequent flyer programs
    • Limited passenger services with additional charges for some services.
  • Classes of Service in an Airplane

  • First Class
    • The class with the best service and is typically the highest priced.
    • It is available on only a small number of long flights.
    • It is characterized by a large amount of space between seats (legroom), a personal TV set, high-quality food & drink, complimentary items (pajamas, slippers, toiletries).
    • Passengers in this class have a separate check-in counter and access to the airline’s first-class lounge.
  • Business Class
    Also offers more amenities to travelers than the lower class of service. It is characterized by wider entertainment options, more comfortable seats with more legroom & recline.
  • Premium Economy Class
    • A travel class offered by some airlines in order to provide a better flying experience to the economy traveler but for much less money than business class.
    • It is characterized by more legroom, complimentary food & drinks, more recline, premium food & drinks.
  • Economy Class
    • The airline travel class with the lowest ticket price because the level of comfort is lower than that of the other classes.
    • It is characterized by the short distance between each seat, smaller variety of food & entertainment.
