  • How can you improve conclusion questions?
    -State the trend
-Bring in specific data points e.g mitotic index was highest at 0.1mm showing that most cell division occurs near the tip
-Biological reasoning e.g meristematic tissue is found there so more cells will divide more actively/further away you go, cells begin to elongate so fewer cells undergo mitosis
  • Give two structural features of an aorta wall explain how they are related to the function of an aorta:
-thick muscular walls to withstand high blood pressure
-collagen outer layer to withstand high blood pressure and prevent from splitting
-smooth endothelium layer to reduce frictional resistance between the blood and the aorta wall
  • Describe the appearance and behaviour of chromosomes during prophase and during anaphase of mitosis:
prophase - The chromosomes condense and thicken, becoming more visible. The chromosomes consist of 2 sister chromatids joined together at their centromere. Centrioles move to opposite poles of the cell
anaphase - centromere splits and the sister chromatids separate as they're pulled apart to opposite poles of the cell
