  • In Scene 5, Faustus is alone in his study, tries to bolster his own resolution to forget God and dedicate himself solely to Lucifer
  • In Scene 5, the Good Angel appears to try and persuade Faustus with heavenly ideas, whilst the Evil Angel emphasizes the value of power and wealth
  • In Scene 5, Faustus decides his fate and summons Mephastophilis, who tells Faustus that Lucifer agrees to the 24 year plan but it must be signed with Faustus' blood
  • In Scene 5, Faustus stabs his arm, but as he begins to write, the blood congeals so Mephistophilis rushes to get some fire in order to make the blood flow
  • In Scene 5, Faustus begins to write again, the dire warning & inscription "Homo, fuge!" (Fly, O Man!) which appears on his arm but Faustus finishes signing the bond and orders Mephistophilis to deliver it to Lucifer
  • In Scene 5, after the bargain has been completed, Faustus begins to ask again about the nature of hell, but while Mephistophilis is describing hell, Faustus becomes sceptical and refuses to believe in hell
  • In Scene 5, after the Bargain is completed, Faustus wants a wife because he feels wanton and lascivious but Mephistophilis convinces him that he does not want a wife and offers to bring him any courtesan or paramour that he desires
