Sewing Machine Troubles, Causes, and Remedies

• Thread breaks:

  Check upper threading

  Loosen thread tension knob

  Check shuttle hook
• Machine is noisy:

  Remove dust from machine then put oil

  Tighten screws

  Check is balance wheel stopped/doesn't turn
• Balance wheel stopped/doesnt turn

  Tighten belt

  Tighten stop motion screw
• Drive wheel doesn't rotate:

  Clean machine and apply oil

  Change belt

  Clean shuttle case
• Looped stitches:

  Adjust upper and lower tension

  Correct the threading and balance tension of upper and lower thread

  Replace thread take-up spring

  Change needle
• Seam is wrinkled:

  Check upper and lower threading

  Check height of feed dog

  Recheck size of needle and thread

  Check and adjust tension
