  • What is an operating system?
    It's a software that manages the resources of a computer system.
  • What is the operating system loaded by?
    BIOS which stands for basic input / output system
  • What are the types of operating systems?
    Single user operating system, multi operating system, multi processor operating system and single processor operating system.
  • Explain the single user operating system?
    They are found on most desktop computer, laptops and tablets where only one person will use the device one at a time.
  • Explain the multi user operating system?
    It allows more than one user to access the device at the same time such as UNIX servers.
  • Explain a single processor operating system?
    It only has one processor (CPU), that's shared between users by diving the CPU time into time slices.
  • Explain a multi processor operating system?
    They have more than one processor and users still have to share processors abd it is a more complicated system. However, performances is improved as there are fewer users per processors.
