LINES WRITTEN IN EARLY SPRING

  personification of nature as a kind of goddess, makes link between speakers soul + natures creations

  Natures creations are beautiful and she wants to share with humans.

  “Soul” = everlasting connection to nature
• the birds around me hopped and played

  their thoughts i cannot measure


  verbs “hopped” “played” = freedom + joy

  “i cannot measure”= the speaker is unsure of the thoughts of birds and therefore suggests that man cannot truly understand or measure nature

  what man has made of man?


  poet urges us to return to a time when we gave nature the respect it deserves.
