Chem Chap 2

Cards (5)

  • Solution: Compound  of a solute and a solvent
    Solute: What is dissolved
Solvent: Where it is dissolved (e.g. water, ethanol, acetone)
  • Solution VS Mixture: It's easy to confuse solution and mixture. There are some aspects that makes them different, which are:
    • Solution are transparent (They can have color though)
    • Mixture are opaque
  • Concentration: Amount of solute (in g) per volume of solvent (cm3, dm3...) .
  • Solubility: The maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in 100g of solvent
  • Saturation: When solution is full of solute and no more solute can dissolve
