    Made up of many different cultures which may include different nationalities

    There should be freedom of thought, conscience and religion for theistic, non theistic and atheist beliefs.
  • Why do some people oppose multiculturalism?
    The lack of common values can lead to a society that lacks cohesion. If communities do not integrate, this can cause conflict
  • What is an example of differences between communities?
    FGM is practised in some communities in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. It is illegal in England. Many argue that it causes unnecessary suffering to young women. Some argue that these are cultural practices so it should be up to the decision of the religious community not secular law.
  • Why do some disagree with forced marriage?
    Because young people do not have the option to reject the marriage. They argue that it goes against the values of British society, where people have the freedom to choose who they marry

    If it causes harm to people or breaks another law
  • What is the difference between multi faith and multicultural?
    Multi faith - different religious faiths live side by side
    Multi cultural - co existence of multiple cultures in society

    1. A person uses reason to consider X and Y and decides that one is more reasonable than the other
    2. A person uses reason to decide that X is the more inclusive belief, and Y is a sub set of that belief, so both may be held to be true
